Abstract

Sijukkot (Lactuca indica L), the plants have been from an area in the village of Parsaoran Sibisa Ajibata, Toba Samosir, North Sumatera, has long been used and believed to be a medicinal plant, especially as a medicine for diabetes, although it has never been studied. For that we in this study conducted research on the leaves of the sijukkot plant. We feel it is important to research the activity of these plants as antidiabetic and antioxidants. It is extracted plant leaves using 96% ethanol. The antioxidant of ethanol extract leaves has been tested by the DPPH method, the antioxidant has showed IC50 values of 118,94 ppm, it has a strong antioxidant. We also tested the anti-diabetic activity of the ethanol extract of sijukkot leaves by in vitro using the alpha amylase enzyme inhibition method and the results showed the IC50: 132,413ppm, It has moderate anti-diabetic activity. © 2022 American Institute of Physics Inc..
