Coral island located in the Central Tapanuli region is a destination that is the prima donna of the beauty of the west coast of Sumatra. Sitits-tiris village, especially the coral island, has a coral reef area that almost surrounds the island area. The beauty of the waters of the coral island makes the area a marine tourism destination. Tourists who enter the village of Sitiris-tiris, especially coral islands, have an impact on the damage to the coral reef ecosystem on the coral island which is a place for various fish to live. The existence of coral islands as tourist destinations must be preserved. The purpose of this study was to analyze the physical and chemical parameters in the coral island waters. The sample used is water that comes from the waters around the coral island from the coast up to 400 meters to the mainland of Sitirs-tiris village. Samples were tested in the BTKLPPM laboratory. Parameters tested are physical parameters such as temperature, conductivity, and turbidity. Chemical parameters in the form of pH, salinity, COD, BOD and Dissolved Oxygen. The results obtained for physical parameters in the form of temperature with a value of 28-29°C, conductivity with value 4,39-4,94 ppt, and turbidity with value 0.24-3.07 FNU. The value of the chemical parameter in the form of pH is obtained 7.0-7.6 salinity by value 8.75-9.97 mS, COD worth 4.8-5.8 mg/L, BOD worth 2.2-4 mg/L, and Dissolved Oxygen is worth 6,96-8,54 mg/L. Overall, it was concluded that the waters of the coral island of Sitiris-tiris village as a place for coral reef life still meet the quality standards of marine tourism waters. © 2023 Author(s).
