Abstract

Adequate nutrition during the preconception period will determine the output of child birth and child growth and support the function of the reproductive organs so that they can play an optimal role. Unfortunately, many couples do not know the importance of preconception nutrition that must be applied before pregnant women. The high number of maternal problems during pregnancy shows the importance of preconception nutrition and nutrition education and health promotion are needed to increase knowledge and healthy behavior in preparing for pregnancy. As an effort to reduce stunting rates, it is necessary to increase knowledge and capacity of adolescents and prospective brides so that they can prepare for a healthy pregnancy, one of which is through pre-marital preparation courses. The research was conducted by developing educational media based on hybrid learning (a combination of online and offline). This research is in the form of nutrition education based on the construction of the Health Belief Model for adolescents and prospective brides, especially to improve intentions, attitudes, subjective norms and perceived behavioral control towards the application of preconception nutrition. Before and after the education was conducted, a pretest and posttest were conducted to measure the increase in participants’ knowledge. Based on the results of the study, it is known that preconception nutrition education in offline wedding preparation courses can significantly increase participants’ knowledge (p<0.001) because the two-way interaction process runs better. For this reason, it is recommended that the provision of preconception nutrition education in wedding preparation courses can be given offline. © 2022, Airlangga University.
