the purpose of this study is to know how the parent's assistance to their children in doing homework. This research was conducted at state junior high school in Kisaran city with total sample of 200 students. In this study the sample is given a questionnaire to know the involvement of parents in mentoring their children at home. Assistance to learning is meant starting from the presence of parents when their children do homework from teachers at school, to the provision of learning facilities for their children in home study. From the results of the study note that parental assistance at home studying in the city of Kisaran is very low. This is known from the results of a survey that states that the concern of parents to their children's homework is rarely categorized. In general, parents entrust their children's learning after school hours to tutoring and private tutors. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.
