The Durian is one famous comodity from Sumatera Utara, Indonesia. The peel of this tropical fruit dominated 60-70% of it weight. Durian peel contained 50-60% of cellulose that has a potency as a new resource for pulp production. The aim of this study was to produce pulp from durian peel. Pulp is produced using acid hydrolysis, alkalization, and bleaching methods. Improved properties of the pulp using the method of homogenization with variations of time 30, 60, 90, and 120 minutes. The results of SEM analysis showed an increase in the properties of the pulp with Fiber length and width of the resulting fiber has decreased with an increase in homogenization time. The degree of crystallization of the pulp was analyzed using XRD. The increase in the degree of crystallization occurs with an increase in homogenization time. Homogenisation process carried out effectively to improve the properties of the pulp. © 2020 American Institute of Physics Inc.. All rights reserved.
