The development of science and technology can be one way to improve the quality of learning carried out by a teacher. 21st-century teachers must have knowledge and skills in using various technology tools, both traditional and modern, to facilitate learning and improve learning outcomes. A preservice teacher must own the ability to use technology in education. This study aims to develop a valid and reliable TPACK instrument for science teacher candidates at Medan State University. This research is quantitative. The sample of this study involved 100 mathematics and science students consisting of semesters 5 and 7. Data were descriptively and quantitatively with the help of IBM SPSS software version 2. The results showed that some statements needed to be revised. However, the instrument has met face validity and content validity. This study resulted in a relatively high value of validity and reliability. The tool in this study, therefore, can be developed in further research. © 2022 American Institute of Physics Inc.. All rights reserved.
