Abstract

In this paper, we investigate the localization properties of fundamental fields that are nonminimally coupled to gravity by introducing interaction terms between the fields and the Ricci scalar in both the original Randall–Sundrum model (RS) and the modified Randall–Sundrum model (MRS) frameworks. The localization conditions for each scenario are systematically analyzed. We derive the equations of motion for scalar, vector and spinor fields with nonminimal gravitational coupling, and solve them to obtain the extra-dimensional profiles. These solutions are then employed to examine the localization behavior of the fields on the brane through the corresponding localization conditions. A field is said to be localized on the brane if the action integral over the extra dimension, ranging from 0 to ∞, is finite. Furthermore, we determine the values of the coupling constants associated with the zero modes in both the RS and MRS models. These values are subsequently related to the corresponding effective potentials, revealing notable features of field localization induced by nonminimal coupling. Our analysis shows that none of the considered fields can be localized within the RS model. In contrast, within the MRS framework, all fields under consideration can be localized provided that the warp parameter is positive. © 2026 The Author(s)
